Music

Music is such a powerful force. A steady rhythm of notes on a piano and a soft voice fill your ears and suddenly you're transported. No longer are you sitting at the kitchen table, but you are back in a memory somewhere, where everything moves in slow motion. You can feel all the emotions, hear every sound, smell every smell, feel every touch. The song I'm listening to now, the memories take my breath away. I wonder if it will be like that forever. Some songs aren't associated with memories but they still take you somewhere. That's what makes music such a helpful writing tool. I really encourage listening to a song on repeat (one that inspires you) and writing until you have the whole picture. Where does that song take you? What does it look like there? Who is there? Which reminds me...I'm supposed to be finishing a short story inspired by a song for a contest. :P Creative writing club finally came up with a good topic.
